By Brian Crosby
I had a chance to pick up this book at Big Lot. I am going to have to pick it up now that I have chance to scan through the book.

In Smart Kids, Bad Schools, award-winning author and educator Brian Crosby draws on his twenty years as a high school English teacher to offer a candid appraisal of why our schools are failing and what we must do to save them. Crosby’s no-holds-barred critique of the broken education system leaves no stone unturned: he is unapologetic and uncompromising in his exposé of how teachers, administrators, unions, and parents all play a part in this national tragedy.

Crosby offers 38 ideas to save America’s future and his proposed remedies are revolutionary. He recommends bold measures, such as lengthening the school day and school year, forcing parents to volunteer at schools, abolishing homework, outlawing teachers unions, and cutting special education funding. The result is a book that is likely to inflame passions on all sides of the political spectrum, and, in the process, introduce new ideas to a debate that is in dire need of them.

Through Asset-Based Thinking By Kathryn

Through Asset-Based Thinking
By Kathryn D. Cramer, Hank Wasiak

I love this book. Just picked it up yesterday when I went shopping with my wife and daughter at Marshall in Webster, NY.

I picked it up for only $3 and what a bargain !!
Check out this book and from now on, learn to see the world throught a different prism.

For most people, it is the way they think that determines their ultimate success in life. If someone has a really positive attitude towards life, then they are highly likely to find themselves in situations that will further their happiness and help them to achieve their ultimate goals in life. However, not everyone thinks in this way and this can prove detrimental to their happiness.

If you are one of these people, then this book ‘Change the Way You See Yourself’ is a must-read. It will help you to feel better about yourself, even if you are just going food shopping or playing party poker. It is the little things that make a big difference and if you make small, positive changes in your life then you will see great results

“Whatever you admire in someone, you have in yourself-if only but a glimmer. In fact, when a person’s talent, virtue, skill or attitude strikes you as amazing, you can be sure it’s something you want more of for yourself. You are ready, willing, and able to incorporate it into your repertoire of assets.”-from the Introduction
Change the Way You See Everything was a breakthrough book, which presented a transformational philosophy known as Asset-Based Thinking, or “ABT.” That book was able to instill success-oriented habits in even the most die-hard cynic, and inspired thousands to shift their thinking to reap monumental rewards both in work and in life. Now the authors are back to expand this powerful notion of Asset-Based Thinking-to guide people on how to change one’s own power, influence, and impact on the world. So while the first book taught readers how to view their world differently, this next book shows them how to see themselves differently. It will reveal that everyone is a leader in their own way, and that, through ABT, every person can plug into their unique power.

About the author (2008)
Hank Wasiak is co-founder of The Concept Farm, one of the hottest creative development companies in the world. He is an advertising industry icon who works with the corporate elite of global and domestic business. He lives in New York City. Kathryn D. Cramer, Ph.D. is a practicing psychologist, sought-after corporate consultant and speaker, and the author of several books on personal effectiveness and professional development. She is the founder of The Stress Center at St. Louis University, and managing partner of The Cramer Institute, an internationally recognized coaching and consulting firm. She lives in St. Louis, MO.

Check this book, Rockstar Business!!

“This modern entrepreneur works smart – fewer well-spent hours resulting in (increased) success. Yes it is possible; it just requires a mindset shift. An Entrepreneurial Rockstar’s happiness doesn’t rely solely on financial success. Wealth, from a lifestyle perspective, is highly valued. Rockstar Entrepreneurship offers a holistic approach to business.

These cutting-edge entrepreneurs invest a greater portion of time and energy in pursuing, and maintaining, personal happiness. This is in addition to their focus on business deadlines and the bottom-line.

These modern entrepreneurs favour a collaborative approach, they work/surround themselves with the best people. The focus shifts from being the only to being one of. Relationships are prized and interactions are not valued solely by existing/potential monetary worth. In its simplest form being an Entrepreneurial Rockstar is less about the wallet and more about the soul.”

http://rockstarbusiness.com/

This guy is amazing. I have been following his career now for over four years. He went from having a dream to running two million dollars company. And he is only 25 years old.

He collaborates with different designers and programmers thousand of miles away, building great web templates and providing top notch customer services.

He is a major inspiration in my entrepreneur pursuit. I am reading his book right now. I feel like such a failure !! In a good way.

A unique approach to personal

A unique approach to personal finance that tackles money like a jiu-jitsu fighter would tackle an opponentIn martial arts and personal finance, fundamentals are important. But while failing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu may be disappointing, itrs”s nothing compared to failing to build wealth and creating a better future for your family. Nobody understands this better than Scott Ford, a top-ranked financial advisor and Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast. Now, in Financial Jiu-Jitsu, he shows you how to overcome your

From the Inside Flap

Trading either commodities or foreign currencies might sound exciting. But if you haven’t mastered even the basics of money management—establishing an emergency fund, maintaining a budget, and setting money aside for your children’s education and your retirement—can you honestly say you’re on the path to perfecting the art of personal finance?

In Financial Jiu-Jitsu: A Fighter’s Guide to Conquering Your Finances, financial advisor and Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast Scott Ford shows how mastering your finances—like mastering a martial art—has nothing to do with perfecting thousands of exotic, technically challenging moves. Rather, mastery is as simple as performing a handful of basic moves thousands of times. These basic financial moves include:

Prepare to Win: Paying yourself first, maintaining a cash safety net, managing credit wisely, and never procrastinating

Balance and Base: Determining your specific financial goals, and developing a vision for your life

Closing the Gap: Overcoming your fear of the unknown by creating a personal balance sheet and using it to analyze your current financial situation

The Power of Respect: Choosing and working with a financial advisor

Timing: Taking advantage of tax-deferred investments, maxing out 401(k) contributions, and contributing to IRAs

Gain Control: The basics of an estate plan, living trust, pourover will, and power of attorney

Position Before Submission: Protecting yourself with insurance

Attitude: Planning for your retirement

Learning Jiu-Jitsu taught Scott Ford to face both personal and professional challenges head on—to anticipate problems, to be open to new ideas, and to seize opportunities. Now, in Financial Jiu-Jitsu, he teaches you how to use the guiding principles of finance to build a solid financial foundation that can then be leveraged to help you achieve your long-term financial goals, while building lasting wealth for you and your family.

You can’t plan for everything life and the economy might throw at you. But after reading Financial Jiu-Jitsu, you’ll be prepared for almost anything
